Big Ben

 For this weeks chapter chat I drew the big Ben. For the clock I had to use a circle shape object to get a perfect circle and for some of the places I had to use a ruler. The hardest part was at the bottom of the big Ben because I had to get the fine details.

Case closed

                                                  The case of the missing chocolate

On Monday the 23rd of November 2020 Mrs Taaffe came in to our class because she was one of the last suspects for the case of the stolen chocolates. Our evidence for Mrs Taaffe is she has a cut on her hand, She used a HDMI cable for casting issues, She was here on the day, Her finger prints were on the door, jar lid and milky way raper, She parked by the office that day and on the security cameras the person who did the crime ran to the office,her shoe size fits. And At the end of the interrogating she told us her story her story was she came to school to drop some things off  she had trouble casting so she came over to Whetu and took the HDMI cable she saw some chocolates so she took some then she thought she herd someone so she ran out the door Then she told us she was the criminal. 

Guy Fawkes

 For this weeks blog challenge I found out some stuff about  guy Fawkes I found out what is guy Fawkes,how we celebrate guy Fawkes, when we started celebrating guy Fawkes and  how old is guy Fawkes. 

Athletics day

 Yesterday was athletics day. When I got to school we all went to the deck outside the hall then we went to the grandstand my first event was shot put we only had 3 throws one of mine was a no throw after that event I went to my bag and ate some morning tea after that my age group had to do 100m sprints I made it into the finals when my race was done I went to high jump every jump was so close to get over it was my first year doing high jump half way into the high jump event I went to the finals for 100m sprints I came 3rd to last. Then it was time for my favorite event long jump, unfortunately, I did not make it in to the finals. Then it was time for the 200m sprint I came 3rd to last after that my dad took me home then all I did was lay on my bed.

Fingerprints

Today I worked with Patrick for fingerprints I found out that I have 3 archers,2 loops and whorls all together. Next week when I finish another fingerprinting task I will hopefully get a badge for finger prints. Last week a lady came in and told us stuff about fingerprints she told us how to take a fingerprint some people went up and took there finger prints.

This week for chapter chat I drew a antique jeep I only had two days because I was away four 1 day at

For this week I did a cake mystery with Desmond at the end we found out the culprit it was henare hokomou.

For this weeks work shop I made crystals first we put some hot water in a cup then we put two spoons of borax we had to make a shape to put in the hot water we did a twirl shape it took 1 day to form there were more crystals in the cup then the shape I worked with Hemi Kingston.

For are art this term we did pop art I decided to draw a coke bottle at first I only did the yellow and pink drips but then I decided to do the blue and green drips to.

This weeks maths mystery I worked with Desmond we found out that the thief is Mrs Rabbit.

This week I chose to join the cooking group workshop option.

on the second day we cut up every and we did a word find

on the third day we put every thing in the soup we let it sit for three hours then ate the soup

should animals be in zoos

For our inquire we had to do research if animals should be in zoos or not be keep in zoos I think they can be in zoos I have five reasons. One of them is zoos provide a safe place for endangered animals if you want to read more reasons click on the slide.

For this weeks whetu challenge we had to make a cartoon my group wanted to make spongebob cartoon I did squidward an old man jenkins you cant really see them because i did not have enough time to colour it but it turn out really good and I really liked the Kermit  group they did the Simpsons cartoon I really liked it if we can do it again I would try and add some colour.      

Egg Drop Challenge

Today for Whetu challenge we did egg drop challenge the people I worked with is Brooklyn and Danny are egg cracked and the balloon on top fell off but we still gave it a try. It was really fun I would love to do it again.

The new learning activity that I have enjoyed the most this term is the blog challenge becouse there were really cool challenges. My favourite blog challenge on my blog is a bedroom because you can recreate your room and add things that aren't already in there.

Something that has challenged me this term has been whetu challenge because there were really hard challenges like the paper airplane challenge because you had to follow the instructions exactly.

The Whetu Challenge I enjoyed the most was the catapult challenge. All we had to use were ice block sticks and rubber bands. We got to fling the poppom out of the catapult and see whose catapult went the furthest.

The opt-in workshop I enjoyed the most was roller drawing. You had to roll a dice and what it landed on you had to draw.

An aim I have for my learning is to get better at my fractions

Paper Planes

Whetu Challenge - Paper Planes

Today our challenge was to design an accurate paper plane. We were given a draft piece of paper to trial and a good piece to use once we had tested the accuracy of it.

Before we started I thought this challenge was going to be really hard I didn't think it was easy.

I decided to use the design because it looked like it will be accurate.

The hardest part was to get the folds right.

During our competition time I managed to score 6.

Tennis Ball Tower Challenge

Today for our Whetu Challenge we worked in a group to build a tower out of newspaper, 2 straws and sellotape. We needed to make our tower strong enough to hold a tennis ball and be able to stand alone (not leaning on anything or needing support).

Today I worked with Ryan and Max.

At first we had trouble with getting it stable.

The easiest thing was making the hold for the tennis ball.

The best part of our tower was the top it looked really spiky

Our tower looked really cool I like how it came out.

In the end I think we did really good.

things that I used to make my catapult were rubber bands,Popsicle sticks and a spoon.

To make my catapult I worked with Cohen and Desmond.

The most challenging part was trying to get the spoon on right because it was flimsy.

Our best results were how high it went it did not go to far.

Overall I think that we did good for our first try.

Peter's Dog

This week I drew Peters dog. First I drew his body shape then I coloured it with colouring pencils

I  like Peters dog more than his turtle. I enjoyed colouring it in the hardest part was the body.

New York

This week for chapter challenge I made a New York city poster I learnt a lot about New York it was really interesting to know more about New York it was really fun!!

My bubble reflection

What have been some positives?

A positive thing about being in lock-down is we are going to be safe and
spending time with family

What have been some challenges?

A challenge about being in my bubble is not being able to go to your friends house.
Not being able to go to the warehouse is also a challenge.

What new skills have you learnt?

I have learnt farming skills with dad on the farm and I learnt to climb a really big tree.

What do you miss the most?

I miss my family in South Africa the most because I cant see them and they are in lock-down
to my grandma normally comes to visit this time of the year

Turtle Dribble

This is my chapter challenge for this week I drew dribble the turtle and I used my copic markers that I got for Christmas and  I worked all by my self and hopefully dribble is staying in his bubble to. Dribble is a turtle he plays part as a pet turtle and Peter won Dribble at a birthday party. Peter told his mother that dribble smells like turtle peter was happy to have his own pet. Dribble lives in New York.

Nigeria falls

This is my chapter challenge for this week I worked by my self it was hard to think of facts or find them I enjoyed researching about Nigeria falls.

Waterfall facts.

  The bottom of a waterfall is called a plunge pool. 

  Niagara falls 28 million litres of water travel down Niagara Falls every second. 

  Niagara Falls is a famous waterfall that is found on the border from Canada and the USA .

  Niagara falls is a place where tourists like to go and for photos go for photos Some waterfalls are really big and cool. 

  Due to the heavy flow rate, it is nearly impossible for Niagara falls to completely freeze over.

  Niagara falls is 170 ft or 52 m deep just below the fall.

Niagara falls is 180 ft high and 2,500 feet from one side to the other.

chch week 6

For chapter challenge I did digital design I made
 a google drawing and then I made the dray and
 the bear the hardest thing was to make the bear.

This is my chapter challenge we did research about the milky way and constellations first we found out about the milky way then we found out about the constellations then we added some picture my buddies were Desmond Patrick and I.     

For the past 2 weeks we have been working on chapter challenge my buddy was Christian. We drew a dray we used colouring pencil's the most challenging part was the background we also put three facts on it one of them were first dray was built in 1717.

First blog post 2020

Something that I was nervous about when starting the new year at school Being in a new class with new teachers.

Something that has surprised me this week the water activities it was really fun, especially the relay race.

The activity I have enjoyed the most this week is The water slide it was wild.

A goal I have for myself this year is to get better at my punctuation.

Someone who has helped me so far is Patrick he helped me when I was stuck

What I am most looking forward to this year is swimming because every day it is boiling hot.
